Mammography Technologist

This position will work for On Site Women’s Health in the Evergreen Family Medicine women’s health location.
Job Summary: The mammography technologist works in our women’s health department performing mammography procedures to assist with the diagnosis of disease. The mammography technologist is responsible for appropriate patient positioning and for programming the machine to achieve correct density, contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion to obtain optimum image quality. The mammography technologist will ensure a positive experience by making patients feel respected and secure.
Job will be outpatient clinic based with no call responsibility.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• This position requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, knowledge, and confidentiality. Other duties may be assigned.
• Performs mammography exams in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
• Assure image quality before patient leaves the department.
• Interacts with radiologists to ensure quality breast images and patient care.
• Prioritize patient care and service above all other duties.
• Communicates to COO any quality issues, equipment issues.
• Maintains documentation to ensure ACR accreditation, MQSA (Mammogram Quality Standards Act) and FDA compliance.
• Provides patient care and education instruction to patients. Ability to develop excellent rapport with patients and make the process as comfortable as possible.
• Operates radiograph imaging equipment.
• Verifies patient’s record is up to date and accurate. Makes appropriate changes in computer system and on patient’s medical record.
• Assists with other clinic needs, scheduling, telephone inquiries and data entry.
• Maintain work area in clean, organized and well-stocked condition.
• Performs other duties as necessary and assigned to keep the department running smoothly.
• Must be flexible with work schedule as hours and/or location may vary.
• Required to maintain current state license through OBMI, ARRT.
• Must have the ability to work cohesively with others.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree or higher preferred
• Current Oregon State License (OBMI), ARRT, Mammography Certification CPR Certification and Current CE’s.
• Current licensure by the State of Oregon in Mammography.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, computers and typing experience.
Environment:
• Environmentally controlled medical office environment
• Fast paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent situations
• Exposure to radiation which is minimized using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as protective lead aprons, gloves and other shielding devices and monitored by radiation badges
• Possible exposure to bodily fluids, infectious specimens, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a medical office environment
• Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public
Physical requirements:
• Physical Demands- Stooping, turning, bending, squatting, kneeling; constant/repetitive standing; requires normal, correctable vision and hearing, and the ability to accurately discern color as necessary to perform job functions.
